Here are some (projected and real) emergent professions resulting from the adoption of Internet technologies into everyday life.
Chief Corporate Blogger, or Blogger-in-Residence -- someone who is paid to blog for a company.
Search Engine Assassin -- someone you hire to eliminate all traces of you or your company on the Internet.
Personal iPod Assistant -- someone who loads and refreshes your iPod with customized music, podcasts and videocasts.
Avatar in Residence -- someone who is paid to assume your persona or the persona of your company in a virtual reality arena, such as Second Life.
Podcast DJ -- someone who mixes and spins podcasts on a special channel or at podcast parties.
Green Dietitician -- someone who analyzes nutritional products using a variety of emerging environmental standards, including toxic content, damage to the environment, workers' rights, and more.
Web Cam Security Officer -- someone who installs and monitors web cams throughout your house or office when you are out.
URL Checker -- someone who checks web sites for freshness and notifies anyone whose site hasn't been updated in six months.
Dating Genealogist -- someone who tracks the past dating history of online dating participants.
Algorithmic Menstrual Cyclers -- folks who figure out how to synchronize one's menstrual cycle with folks in a targeted group, such as women in a local book club, cross knitters, or punk rockers.
Thanks for the giggle, Sylvia. The interesting thing really is that there are people in this world who would probably hire someone for ALL of those jobs.
